University of Limerick Graduations
Congratulations to everyone who graduated in the past few days. I hope to follow soon.
I found it quite unusual to see an army officer wear his uniform under the graduation robes but apparently they are obliged to wear them for formal occasions.

Not just for graduations, they apparently have to wear formal uniform for their weddings as well, whether they want to or not! And they have to change from day to evening formal I think too - or face the wrath of their army buddies!

I think the rule mainly applies to officers and not enlisted personnel. At least in the navy, it is not obligatory for ordinary seamen to wear army dress when getting married.
